While in middle school, I feared him for I knew he was much more direct with his students and had higher expectations. There were moments where he could be harsh, but he always did it for the best of his students. The director asked a lot from us, the students, and always expected perfection. Perfection: a word that I grew quite tired of hearing. I had never been so scared to disappoint someone in my life, but then I came to understand why it is that my director did what he did. When playing in a band, you play hundreds of notes in one song, and there will be many errors. The director valued every single mistake and attempted to get rid of them.
