The purpose of this experiment is to find out which type of water grows a plant the fastest. From this experiment, I will learn which type of water grows a plant the best and fastest. My hypothesis is that Plant ‘B’,watered with the sugar water, will grow the fastest. The materials used in my experiment were: (6) Styrofoam Cups , (3) Cups of Water, (3) Flowers (same kind), (2)TBSP. Sugar, (2)TBSP. Salt, and (1)Permanent Marker. My procedures are (1) Gather materials, (2) I Labeled each cup “A”, “B”, and “C”, (3) Begin to “pot” each flower.I put soil in each cup, planted each flower,and watered each flower with the following:Cup A-salt water,Cup B-sugar water,and Cup C-fresh water, (4) I observed and watered plants every 3 days

    The hypothesis of this experiment was that the salinity of water would decrease plant growth due hypertonic solution and the results support the claim. Over the experiment time, plant 1 grew 0.5cm (2.38% increase) which was as expected as it didn’t have a high salinity. Plants 2, 3 and 4 all decreased in height, with plant 2 height decreasing by 1cm (5.26% decrease), plant 3 decreasing by 1.5cm(8.33% decrease) and plant 4 with a decreased height of 2cm(10% decrease).
