The functions of state legislatures include: enacting laws, in which a legislator introduces a new law ; approving budgets, which occurs when state money is allowed to be spent so long as it is approved first by legislators; serving constituents, answering to requests from residents of a legislators' district ; along with overseeing agencies, holding hearings in order to understand why state administrators chose to be in their position. I believe approval of budgeting is the most important function since observing of passage of the appropriation and tax measures in the state budget would allow control of any activity of the state government.
