Where The Wild Things Are Alessia Meaning

Decent Essays
Wild Things is a song about nonconformity and accepting yourself and the path you choose. The title itself likely references the book ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, which could mean that she is saying that her and her friends are “different” like the creatures in the book. Alessia says “So aye, we brought our drum and this is how we dance” in the pre-chorus. This line is a spin on the common phrase “dance to the beat of your own drum”. Many other lines also establish the idea of following your own path in life. Another main idea is that you do not have to do what everyone else does, and that following your own path makes you equal to others; they are not any “cooler”. There is also a message of accepting yourself for who you are and doing what

In 1976, the Swedish group ABBA ravished the world with their hit song “Dancing Queen.” Even after 30 years since its exposition at King Carl Gustaf’s ball, the song remains a favorite in dance clubs. Mixed with pop-operatic harmonies and inspiration to the dance rhythm in George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," as well as the drumming on Dr. John's 1972 album “Dr. John's Gumbo”, ABBA is able to convey an elated feeling of limitless joy and highlights the greatest music of the disco era. Through a beautifully woven blend of uplifting, empowering lyrics and a sophisticated melody scattered with heart-tugging high notes, “Dancing Queen” celebrates the carefree innocence of youth.…

The Bad and the Good: Finding a Balance… or Something Like That Finding a balance between good and evil is fairly difficult. Trying to justify your innocence by telling someone you listen to classical music like Mozart and Bach, doesn’t mean that you are. In society, the struggle to see a difference between good and evil comes in play with, for example, the government trying to fool us into thinking that what they're doing is for the greater good and in school-like settings with young children, teenagers, and etcetera. Despite being taught that what they are doing is trying to protect us, we can see it crumble in world affairs such as the controversy in the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.…

The song I selected that deals directly with the travesties of war is "Aquarius Goodnights". My interpretation of the song involves Claude (the "Aquarius") who has been deployed into Vietnam and is trying to relay his location to his superiors or anyone that's listening, he comes under fire as he's singing a reprisal of the song "Ain't got no", a song that probably reminds him of his friends back home and a happier time in his life, he comes under fire, and after his last verse we can assume he died. Following these events in the song the tribe is protesting the war at the induction center where new draftees are being briefed. Berger and Sheila call out for Claude who responds with "I'm right here! Like it or not they got me" but he is ignored.…

My Personal Playlist and Transcendental Justification Icarus, Bastille, 2011 I personally love this song simply because of the Greek Mythology reference, as well as the really cool entrance; and I think that transcendentalists might like it as well. My interpretation of this song is that it is talking about how young people search for happiness by doing dangerous and risky things (i.e. Icarus got excited and flew up towards the sun), that may lead to them getting hurt (the sun melting the wax off of Icarus’s wings and him falling to his death. Transcendentalists would like this interpretation, because they believe that although people try to bring happiness into their lives by relying on material things (ex. Drugs and Alcohol), this will never…

Overall, Imagine Dragon’s lyrics of the song “Monster” focuses on struggling to fit in within society by sharing his experiences and internal conflict with the audience. Imagine Dragon wants to give a message to society saying that they cause problems for different people, who cannot fit in, by having such a low tolerance for uniqueness and treating them like monsters. His message relates to outcast, especially teens who feel pressured to follow such trends so they can feel belonged, and wanted. Therefore, as a teen myself, I understand the difficulty of staying true to myself and trying to fit in with everyone else. I hope that this song can meet their goal, and cause everyone to realize their faults.…

The song “Fly Away” by 5 Seconds of Summer has transcendental values of individuality and a respect for nature but with some understandable values for the modern age. This upbeat song includes verses that Emerson or Thoreau would have found charming. Although this song does not show much interest in God or religion at all, it makes up for the firm confidence and self-reliance that is so important to people of transcendentalist values. This 5 Seconds of Summer song shares some of the same values that Emerson and Thoreau use: self-reliance, nonconformity, and a want to experience nature. Yet, because of the modern tone of the song, they also include values that are different from Emerson or Thoreau including: a longing for possessions, letting the past conflict their…
