In the story, Where The Red Fern Grows,by Wilson Rawls,Billy learn that it takes hard work to reach his goals.He depicts his own life which was amazing because he talked about life as a grown man and then changing the story into his childhood. In the story he forms a character named Billy who asks his father to buy him a specific type of dog called a Coon-Hound.
In the second chapter ,Billy wasn’t such a lucky boy because his family were poor.So Billy decided to earn money on a farm.He then sees a fishermen camp and decides to snoop around,but only to find a magazine that said,”Hunting Dogs for sale only $25 each.”In Billy’s time $25 meant a fortune.
Billy really wanted the pups so he asks God to help him get the pups.It took Bily 2 years

In Where The Red Fern Grows chapter 7-11, Billy decides to catch a coon so he can get the cooskin to train his pups but unfortunately Billy realizes that catching a coon (racoon) is hard work and it takes patience.With his three little traps and bulldogged determination,he set out to trap Mister Ringtail.For three solid weeks he practically lived on the river .He tried every trick he knew it was no use .He just couldn’t catch the wiley old …show more content…
“The winner of tonight’s hunt will receive the gold cup.”According to the text, Billy reaches the final and has to tree 3 coons.He trained Little Ann and Old Dan day and night and never gave up on them.The day of the finals came and Billy judge came overcame over and introduced himself and he told them he was going to be with them for the night.Billy was determined to do whatever it took to win the tournament. The struck their first trail when suddenly Grandpa was lost.Little Ann found him with a serious injury.It turned out he had fallen on ice sleet.When everything was back to normal, Papa chopped a tree with a hollow trunk and three big raccoons rolled out.Little Ann and Old Dan charged and killed the coon.Billy received his Gold cup and Collected his three hundred dollars.With his success, Billy went home and showed his gold cup to his sisters and
