Joseph Mallord William Turner was born in Covent Garden, London, England. He was more often known as William Turner and it could be said that he showed his talents from a very young age, as young as ten years old. Though he showed his artistic ability at such a young age the question then, remains what struggles grew as he did?
He inherited his name from his uncle that he was sent to live with at a young age, due to his mother’s admission to Beldam or a “hospital for the mentally ill.” As a result of this, his father alone was not a suitable parent and could not provide for the young boy.
