In Where Am I Wearing, there were things that stood out to me in chapter 13, when they were talking about how Cambodia has a lot of mines and UXO. One fact was mind blowing that “Cambodia has the highest number of amputees in the world”. It states that “one out of 350 people is missing some kind of body part” (90). That was shocking to me and it’s something that I would’ve never known if I didn’t read this book. One of the important highlights of part II was when he was talking to Pradip and met Sreekanth. Pradip explain some information that was helpful to Kelsey, about merchandise vs. retail profit. He mentions how “Levi exports $90 million of merchandise per year which retails for about $400 million” (104).

This article touched based on poverty and democracy, focusing on gender inequality stating that males are responsible for protecting and providing for their household. When a man is unable to live up to society expectations it cause be stressful, whereas women are discriminated against and are put classified at a lower level than men. I feel that that’s the same circumstances anywhere because men feel like it’s their duty and apart of their manhood to provide and protect. The living and working conditions of others in poor countries. I’m also learning that the government plays a huge role in when it comes to poverty as far as what can be done to improve it. There is so much more to it that it slowly uncovering in the reading. I think that it’s important to know how the government works and how countries are impacted due to the government’s decision and rules. There are laws that tie in how things are played on in these countries as well. It all ties together with human rights, poverty, and the government.
