“When You Reach Me” is an inspiring novel about Miranda, a girl who lives only with her mom. Her dad left when Miranda was a baby, and she hasn’t seen him since. Miranda lives in an apartment where the elevator gets stuck, there are holes in the couch, and everything is either dusty, dirty, or destroyed. Despite this, Miranda and her mom live together happily. Miranda has a friend named Sal, who one day just leaves her in the dust. She finds new friends, but never forgets him. She is trying to find the reason, however complicated or simple, why their friendship ended so suddenly. She gets by, but then the notes start coming.
