We lie about three times every ten minutes in a conversation, estimated to be 25 lies a day. The truth is important in several ways. Our world is a bunch of lies, not a lot of people tell the truth anymore. Our world would be happier if we all told the truth. Friends even lie to you, but why? Why should I even tell the truth? If I lie to someone they're going to find out somehow.
Friends lie to you at least sometimes. To start with, they usually don’t want to hurt you. When they lie to you they don’t want to ruin your friendship you have together for example, they tell you your shirt is cute, but it’s ugly. They’re trying to be nice. Also they don’t want to argue with you. When your friend lies they do it so you guys still can be friends, they don’t want to fight. It's better to tell the truth right away though, so you don’t fight later on about lying. Another reason is, they don’t want to be embarrassed. Even if they are your friend they don’t want to embarrass themselves front of you. It will help if you tell the truth because it will give your friend the opportunity to be trusted and it will be a

Your friends are not real friends if they don’t tell the truth, you aren't real if you lie too. Your friends should be able to tell the truth even if it hurts. If they are true friends, the truth won’t matter as much because they still want to be your friend. Being honest might not get you a lot of friends, but it will always get you the right ones. -John Lennon. The quote is saying that your true friends tell the truth, no matter how much it hurts. Fake friends lie to not hurt you. When you tell the truth, people trust you. When you lie once, all your truths became questionable because people know that you lie. It’s like saying you need money to buy something but you have 50$. Then one day you ask for money but then you really need it, no one will give it to you because you've lied about that
