Hamlet, the witty prince of Denmark, is beloved by the people of the kingdom for his charm, good looks, and his father, who has only recently passed away due to unknown circumstances. But the king was not seen for the last time during his life however, but after his death, when Horatio, Hamlet's closest friend, sees the ghostly king. Hamlet daftly rushes to the cemetery with Horatio and speaks to his father. His father reveals that he was murdered in cold blood by his brother, Claudius, and had married his wife. Hamlet's father called upon Hamlet to avenge him by killing Claudius by whatever means necessary. However, Hamlet was unsure if what he saw truly was his father, or some sort of trick the devil was playing on him to murder what could've been his …show more content…
And for good measure, decided to have Hamlet shipped away to England with two of his friends with the intent of having the English kill him. Before he could be taken away, however, Hamlet kills Polonius, father of the girl Hamlet had fallen in love with, Ophelia. Upon hearing the news of her father's death, Ophelia becomes distraught and eventually loses her mind. Furthermore, her brother Laertes rushes back into Denmark from France to avenge his father. Aware now that Hamlet knows of his crime, King Polonius and Laertes join forces and decide to kill Hamlet before he can do any further damage. King Claudius offers that Laertes has a sword duel with Hamlet, but "accidently" leaves the blade protectors off, Laertes insisting that he slick the blade in poison so that even a scratch will handle the job. But Claudius, worried that Hamlet may be too fast for Laertes, offers they slip venom into Hamlet's wine just in case. Having agreed on a plan, the King sends a messenger to tell Hamlet that King Claudius had made a wager of 7 horses on Hamlet being able to beat
