When The Wild Wind Blows Poem Analysis

“When the Wild Wind Blows” sung by Iron Maiden Even though people often associate ballads with a story of love, some ballads can tell stories of possible futuristic scenarios. A song that demonstrates this type of story is “When the Wild Wind Blows” by Iron Maiden. Because this ballad is a song, tells a story, and contains other elements of a ballad, it easily represents a modern rock ballad. This song does not maintain a regular rhyme scheme; however, it repeats a few lines: “Can’t believe all the lying/ All the screens are denying/ That the moments of truth have begun/ Can’t you see it on TV?/ Don’t believe them in the least bit/ Now the days of our ending have begun.” The song features a few breaks in which a guitar is accompanied by a pair of cymbals and the sound of wind. As the song progresses, the beat speeds up to dramatize the story being sung. I like to think the guitar that plays the melody represents the man in the story. Without words, the rhythm and beat of the song expresses drama and suspense. The words support this. …show more content…
When the media advertises an end to the world, the couple starts preparing for it. They want to survive this catastrophe. A line in the song says, “He carries everything into the shelter not a fuss/ Getting ready when the moment comes.” He and his wife prepare for weeks. When the supposed day comes, he has flashbacks of his life with his wife and thinks the time they spent together will be meaningless after then “winds of change” sweep across the world. They hold no hope in their bosoms. “They make a tea and sit there waiting/ They’re in the shelter feeling snug.” As the moment of truth approaches them, the man and his wife cannot stand to face the “wild winds.” The ending of the story describes a scene of the couple holding fast to each other as the poison, the death to their lives, sits beside

All discoveries involve the revealing of previous unknowns and the reconsidering of previously held beliefs. They are all encompassing ranging from the spiritual to the physical. They can be sudden and unexpected or be the result of deliberate planning. Often discoveries cause a person to reconsider their beliefs. kay, so now we know about timshel, but it's also Adam's last word before he dies (at least it wasn't something totally random like rosebud). He says it right after Lee gets him to give Cal his blessing, i.e. show that he loves him as a son and free him from the guilt of "killing" his brother. It's a moment where things are at a crossroads for Cal: he could go on hating himself for what he has done and thinking that his dad died hating his guts, or he can be free and go on to break the Cain-Abel curse that seems to follow the Trask family around. As Lee says to Adam, "Give him his chance"…

In “The Prairie” Bill appears to be a child trapped in the body of a strong, tall, and bold man. From the narrators point of view Bill is deemed childish and imprudent since he is always oblivious of what is happening around him. The narrator describes Bill as a simple-minded person who has a hard time trying to comprehend the circumstances that they are facing. This could be substantiated through the following quotation: “Bill isn’t the sharpest tack in the drawer. He’s been that way pretty much his whole life or at least since I’ve known him, which is close to the time he left the womb.”…

Stories such as Uncle Tom’s Cabin, “The Hunters of Men”, and “Civil Disobedience” all have a connection with the fight to gain civil rights and equality. Much of that still carries on into the 21st century we live in today. In Uncle Tom’s Cabin, a woman takes matters into her own hands in order to save her child, showing her strength and bravery that many women in today's time possess as well. “The Hunters of Men”, a short story written by John Greenleaf Whittier, is considered to be a public attack on slave hunters. The public attacks against their government and the way people were treated didn't stop there, in “Civil Disobedience” by Henry David Thoreau, Thoreau made sure to show that the people had more power over the government than they thought.…

    The Cycle Of Violence

The author used lyrics to tell this story to the people; he used song and rhythm as a way to communicate his message that I think it’s about the cycle of violence. It tells us about how can a human being is capable of dehumanizing another and by doing that he reaches a level of pure violence against that person; for example the way he listed a bunch of words such as: faggot, sissy, punk, queen and queer; its an example that words can take away someone´s humanity and turns them into objects that one can easily dispose of or use to their advantage. Also he used the typical example of the highscool bully that has family or internal issues and lashes out to the kid he think it’s the weakest as a way to release the anger that’s inside him, but…
