When People Think About English Class Essay

When people think of English class, most of the time they think of using proper grammar, writing long essays, and reading a really old book that somehow still applies to society today; however, over the course of this second semester I have discovered that there is more to an English class. This semester, we have written over 50 pages, prepared for a test that determines are educational future, and have read many books including the renowned Hamlet. These activities have changed the way I think and taught me important life lessons. This year in English 11, it was required that we wrote at least 5 pages about anything every week. This taught me something I didn’t really know about myself. Something that I really need to change is my procrastination. Waiting until the last minute had become a habit, and I know that if I want to excel to higher learning, then I will need to break that habit. Writing 5 pages every week also showed me what I like to write about. Over the weeks, the majority of my topics were about what I thought needed to fixed in our world. This showed me that I am really passionate about making a difference for the better. Over the course of the semester, I read many books. Most of the books that I read had the same essential theme. A kid in highschool loses all of his cool friends and then is forced to hangout with the rejects of the school. By the end of the book, they are all friends and are inseparable.
