For most people there are two scenarios that come to mind when they hear animal testing. The first scenario is that scientist are torturing, neglecting and abusing the animals that are being tested on. The other scenario is that scientist are being ethical, take care of the animals and are creating life-saving medicines. This makes the use of animals in experiments a controversial topic; a topic that isn’t quite black and white when argued. There are different types of animal testing like, medical testing and cosmetic testing; one is more ethical than the other.…

Inarguably, scientific research has led to countless breakthroughs and saved millions of lives. Ultimately, the harsh treatments endured by animals is highly wrong, but this research still remains vital for treating and curing diseases. Animal testing plays a crucial role in sustaining the human race and without it, many of us would not be alive today.…

Imagine your family pet being enclosed in a small, cold, and dirty cage for days, weeks, or even months on end, only being taken out to be subjected to painful experiments without any anesthetic, as well as the possibility of developing life threatening diseases and injuries. Too many animals experience this on a regular basis around the globe - in fact, nearly 25 million animals will be used as test subjects annually. Animal testing is a horrible occurrence, one that brings suffering to even the smallest of creatures. Many people do not know the extremes of the effects of this practice, which are unnecessarily painful to animals, or that alternatives do exist, and that the results are not always accurate and time/cost effective. Also according to Procon.org, “95% of animals used in experiments are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act.” Finally, animal testing is cruel and inhumane!…

Is animal experimentation justified? Some say yes, while the other side says no. Those that oppose animal experimentation argue that animals have their own unalienable rights and should not be tortured for our benefit. However, diseases such as smallpox, Polio, tuberculosis, and meningitis are not nearly as common as they were in previous times. Diseases that were thought to be incurable such as cancer and AIDS are slowly becoming vulnerable to new medicine that is being tested.…
