America is the undefinable silent force that draws all people under its flag together. It is the weight that pulls on the tears that form as "The Star Spangled Banner" is sung. It is the smiles, the waves, the held doors, and the "pleases" and "thank-you's" that are shared between Americans, regardless of outside factors. The true definition of America is not a definition at all. America is an ever-present spirit that draws its people together, and can only be defined by…

The America I believe in. On January 20th, 1981 Ronald Reagan during his speech A warrior's pledge said “The price for this freedom at times has been high, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price.” I feel this has never been any more true than now. People have fought and died for this country to protect our rights and keep our country free. As a boy scout at every meeting I recite the pledge of allegiance, the law and the scouts oath.…

The America I believe in is a country founded upon the basic right of freedom. Although often overlooked by many countries, freedom should be an essential part of any human’s life. Our Founding Fathers, who were strong advocates of freedom, took a risk by declaring their independence from the British tyranny. I feel that this risk that many considered to be unwise and rash, proved to be a brave and important decision that became an example for many countries who would later go on to declare their independence, such as Afghanistan and Egypt. The Founding Fathers had one thing that will prove to be a key constituent in many historical events: they had hope.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

These can be argued to just be illusions, but I would like to think that there is a way in which we are truly free. Being bound by certain…
