When I recall certain things I notice that there were times that I was able to play things and improve over time only because of my sex rather than of my skill. Being a guy I have the opportunity to play sports if I wanted to and choose from a variety of sports. There was no problem for me when it came to sports if I did not want to play basketball, I had soccer, tetherball, football, etc. Opportunities for me to get involved were left and right all I had to do as choose what activity I wanted to be a part of. Having that availability gave me a broad spectrum from a variety of sport each with a different set of skill required. As a result, that allowed me to learn how to be aggressive and stand up for myself and how to work as a team and communicate more efficiently with others. …show more content…

I know that my parents would not want me to be in a sport that can cause me any sort of physical problem and that goes true even as a male, but that would have played a bigger role just for that fact if I was a female rather than male. Playing basketball would not have been pushed on me as well as soccer, rather I would be edged on to be involved in possibly dance, cheer, or track because it would require less physical contact and with that reducing the chance of getting injured. Additionally, the gender switch would generate far-reaching effects in terms of relationship, and it is that that will place everyone on equal grounds. In Athletes in the Pool, Girls and Boys on Deck by Michela Musto capture a little bit of what society would look like if everything was classified based on the capacities on an individual. Musto in her article finds that athletes did not associate swimming with gender. When talking about racing swimmers, Cody stated “It doesn’t matter . . . it’s just, like, the same thing’ if he loses to a girl or a boy” (206), referring to the fact that it did not matter who he lost to because at the end what is really valued are the swimmers abilities.…

Throughout the beginning, sports were only for the wealthy, or higher social class, white men to participate in. Women, lower class citizens and those of a different race than Caucasian were excluded from participating. As time progressed women became included but had to continue to act and look like women when doing so, those of a different race became included as well but for a while were expected to play within their race and were still not expected to participate with the white men. While todays this is no longer true, we continue to see aspects of social class and social stratification impacting sports. Should Sports Discriminate On Gender Or Race ? I think sports should not discriminate on gender. don't think girls should be excluded from any sport because it's just wrong. Girls can do anything boys can do even if it's a difficult sport. Of course in sports there are many injuries that are possible and girls know that, they know that they can get hurt and if they're really committed they should still be able to play. Sports isn't about the gender it's about the talent.…

Sexism and ultimate frisbee have almost nothing in common, except for I would most likely be better off without both of them. Evidently, I have never been fond of either of issues. However, in my sophomore year of high school, when my gym teacher placed me on an ultimate frisbee team of all boys, the two suddenly became a force to be reckoned with. Usually, I’m, at most subpar at sports, especially ones that involve discs flying towards my face; I have many skills, but hand eye coordination is not one. Being the honest person that I am, I explained my inability to play ultimate frisbee ‘well’ to my teammates.…

There are different sports that women are worthy of a real competition, demonstrating their hard work and talent equally against the men. Sports should be seen as a competition of all gender and not a single gender sport. There are some sports organizations that separated the male and female into two different associations. For example, WNBA, which is Woman’s National Basketball Association as opposed to NBA, which is National Association Basketball.
