When I Run Creative Writing

The air is incredibly thick, I’m running so fast it seems my heart is going to explode, I can’t breathe. What an awful city, the fog is so dense that even the tall old street lamps can’t penetrate it. The tree branches look like haunted bony claws, the benches are empty and there’s not a soul in sight! Damn! The sound I was trying to follow is gone! This can’t be happening to me! Why am I here?

I continue to run on the slippery concrete pavement and I don't realize that I ran too far and I’m in the middle of the park, breathless, and even though I’m close to home, I’m so far from feeling safe.

I have to stop, I can’t take another step or I’ll faint, I look around to see if somebody with bad intentions is close to me and hear the last thing

I have an open view of the lake but my eyes scanning the path catch something that scares me even more! I can’t believe what I see, near the edge of the lake the old woman’s bag of bread, shoes and the hat are on the ground, they are positioned neatly as if somebody wanted to display these items to claim something. Rowan cursed his ill luck. Not because of the rain as he sat in the back seat of the impressively expensive towncar. In fact the soft pattering of the rain upon the metal roof was the most comforting part of this entire situation. He had no surname, tradition dictating that he would have taken his father's, had he known who the bastard was. Or what was given to him by his owners had he been younger.…

Mrs. Joseph Van Bliven was fortunate: a bubble bath loving woman who enjoyed treating herself for pleasure, and perhaps staging crimes to receive money? Mysterious broken glass, a rummaged through jewelry box, and statements that do not add up with the time frame- all of these lead to an implausible excuse for Mrs. Van Bliven’s confusion as to why her necklace “disappeared”. To begin with, even the laws of science prove that if you push something, it will move in that direction. Mrs. Van Bliven did not begin to think when she broke the window of her balcony door. She broke the door from the inside of her hotel room, trying to create a crime scene that would show someone broke in.…

The staff conveyed the meaning of the work by displaying a sign on top of that says,Hoard of Jewelry and along the sides there are short descriptions of each piece. The lighting of the room was very bright and the room had windows giving the room natural lighting to view all the display cases of artworks perfectly. There were four to five chairs that were in the middle of each display case for anyone to observe the artworks at a closer distance. The context of the work informed me in a way in which, I understood that the piece was portrayed by researching more about the piece on the Getty Villa website and listening to the iPod touch that gave me a few details about the piece by typing the number 558 in the iPod…

Prologue The enigmatic sky was as black as tar, rain fell heavily across the pessimistic city from swirling grey clouds. Blue flashes of lightning struck the tops of towering derelict skyscrapers. Hundreds and thousands of buildings jumbled together in a massive multitude of disarray. Deep in the crevices of the city, in a small dark alley stood two figures, watching each other in contemplative silence.…

Buildings were abandoned almost daily, and as a result, empty lots sprawled over the city like weeds in gardens. Dark clouds had permanent residents in the sky, no matter the season. News of violent deaths were commonplace, and every time one was announced, you only hoped and prayed it wasn’t someone you knew. For almost half of my life, that environment was an aspect of my very being.…

A light drizzle tapped the roofs of houses, and the heads of people. A large storm came in a few days ago from the east and the remnants are still lingering throughout the air. Cold, and muggy, the air clings to the faces of bystanders. The paper white breath of people stay in the air for a split second and disappear after only a few milliseconds. Wind dashes throughout the town.…

It was only 2 o’clock in the morning. Palms sweating with blood and a delicate heart that is fighting with itself to continue beating. Everything was a disaster. The smell of death filled Myrtle Avenue and arose from the weightless body.…

Outside, the city had become a shapeless, billowing cloud with no edge behind it, while the town itself seemed to have molded and crumbled, like my insides. The wind was sharp against my face as I sprinted through the parkland. Families lying under trees and patches of green blurred my vision. The sky was a concrete grey, and I could see trees and steep hills which faded into the skyline with the rest of the world.…
