In essay one, the story was based off on my relationship with reading. When I was still in elementary school, I didn’t like reading at all. In fact, I hated it. I had never experienced pleasure reading. It was a weekly torture that I had to drag myself into the library to complete my weekly reading logs. Therefore, when I was told that essay one is about how we were shaped as a reader, I immediately thought of this experience.
One sentence that I am the most proud of is the first sentence of the essay, “I felt trapped.” I believe this sentence concludes the main idea of the story in the beginning of the essay. Even though it is not a complex sentence, speaking from a reader point of view, I am able to tell and feel the author’s struggle.
