When I Came To High School

I was born in El Salvador on August 27, 1997. I lived with my grandparents until the age of 8 when I came to the US to come an live with my parents. At the time i couldn't go to school because i didn't have everything I needed to sign up for school, so i missed a year. When I finally started going to school it was very hard to understand what the teacher said because I didn't speak the language. When I was in middle school my grades weren’t as i wanted them to be up until I made it into high school, Which was when I started to realize I needed to do better. Starting my junior year was when I started to do better. Now in my senior year i’m doing my best to keep those grades up. When I was a kid I lived in a small place in El Salvador, where we weren't the wealthiest or the poorest but we managed it. I attended school which I had to walk about a mile to get to and back. My parents came to the US when I was 2 years old, to get a better life because they never finished high school. At the age of 8 I came to the US, and struggled when I was here because I didn't understand the language and learned it through the ESOL classes which helped but I found that watching TV in English helped me a bit more. Throughout my 3rd grade year everything was difficult, I had one friend that translate for me which was useful but I still struggled. …show more content…
My grades are pretty good because I worked hard to get them there and keeping them up so I can attend a good college and do big things in life. I don't want to be a person that works in an office and does desk work. I want to go into the world and explore and make things. Careers i pursue are Astronomy because I’m a curious person and want to know the secrets of the universe or a Marine because I want to protect the nation that gave me a second chance and because I also want to explore the
