Four thousand fifteen days ago as I stepped my foot in this Country where people called “The land of opportunity.” I worked hard several zillion minutes to get where I am at today. When I write this essay, I imagine you at your desk reading every word meticulously. Writing this essay today opens up my past, present and future. Eleven years ago, April 12, 2006. Today was my long waited journey to America. Tears swelled in my eyes as I looked away from my families, friends and my beloved country. As I slowly walked away I told myself, “It’s just a new beginning, Duyen; you can do it.” Eight thousand five hundred and seventy five miles journey to a new beginning of my life. Now I finally reach to America where people called “ The land of opportunity”. As many immigrants I’m also one of those who are facing the difficult of culture difference, languages and many other relative issue. I remember entering to my homeroom class 204, everyone staring at me like I was a complete stranger. Although I am Vietnamese to them I looked different, talked differently and acted differently. I was different. Sitting in a classroom I feel like I was a newborn baby coming to this world ignoramus. I have to start everything over again and try to adapt to this new schools environment. I couldn’t forget the moment when I was being made fun of by other of who I am and my English pronunciation. My feeling was truly hurt, every single night I laid on my pillow cry like a baby. From then I try to improve my English skill every single days, I force myself to try harder and harder. I gained the confidence to raise my hand during class and took active roles at school. And I started to become fearlessly and this change benefit me not only in my school career but also everything I
