When False Representations Ring True Analysis

Authenticity is supposed to have a moral and motivation to do the right thing. I often see authenticity as sometimes black and white but then again sometimes I see it as shades of grey throughout the situation. When I look at person and they have done wrong but yet something good came out of it I see it as shades of grey. Yes, they have done something wrong, but it came with a good outcome. Authenticity has diverse meanings and definitions but I think authenticity means having integrity, having factual evidence, and having loyalty. First, you must have integrity when trying to be authentic. In the book Authenticity the article “When False Representations Ring True” by Katie Davis, Scott Seider, and Howard Gardner it explains how this lady got a job with MIT and come to find out she lied about her resume and how …show more content…
I think being loyal means to overcome all the lies I have told or done. I think that if I am trying to be authentic I must try to be my own person and not try to copy or duplicate someone else as me. For example, in the book Authenticity the article Fraud and Fundamental Misunderstandings by Shane Borrowman talks about the girl Tina who tries to get away with letting her husband and daughter be her on the online class she is enrolled in. Tina starts to become untrustworthy when it comes to submitting her work online. The teacher starts to see that Tina is plagiarizing all her work and feels no remorse for doing it either. Tina is now untrustworthy because she was not loyal to her teacher or her classmates online (1-7). I think that once a person becomes untrustworthy they lose all loyalty that they have created with someone. Tina shows me the definition of not being loyal. I think people could even say she was committing fraud. She was using student loans to “go to class” but yet no one really knows who Tina was. Authenticity means having loyalty to others surrounding you so that people can trust
