Entrepreneurs are a large factor in the business world today. After reading All in Start Up: Launching a New Idea When Everything Is on the Line by Diana Kander, I learned the hardships that an entrepreneur might face when they are launching a company and they just cannot seem to gain the traction necessary to push their company forward. Throughout the book, Owen is trying to fight to save his company from completely falling apart. He looks to Sam to help him save his company due to her success with the company Sparksys. The book provided many crucial aspects about entrepreneurship including what to do, as well as what not to do. The first concept that I found important was the idea that startup companies need to be solving a problem that customers have. Another concept I found …show more content…
He is working through a struggling marriage, working on a company that is failing, and he’s scared to let everyone near and dear to him down. What Owen does not realize, is that he was working hard to revive a company that was dying. After the tournament, he gained a lot of incite, and he also got a ton of money to create another prototype, which lead to a success in his company. Realistically, most entrepreneurs don’t get an opportunity to go to the World Series of Poker and meet someone who can revitalize their company. If Owen had not gotten these opportunities, he would not have succeeded. One thing that confused me in the book was why World Series of Poker had anything to do with entrepreneurship. I know in the WSOP people take risks, but if it wasn’t for the WSOP then Owen wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity for his company to succeed. Another thing that confused me in the book is how Owen didn’t know about the other company that was basically putting out the same product for more money.
