As driving can be dangerous, it can kill and injure many people throughout the United States. The S.T.A.N.D.U.P Act will require every state in America to make a Graduated License System with requirements and restrictions for young drivers. In the name of the act itself, each letter stands for a part of safety that is needed to keep a strong and safe community. I believe that this act needs to be passed to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads. Afterall, around 4,000 teenagers are killed every year from car accidents. If the act is passed, we can see that number decrease. There are many reasons that the STANDUP Act should be passed. The STANDUP Act will add more requirements, and create a safer community on all of the road systems. Currently, there are many distractions to teenagers, which include texting and passengers. With new requirements as to banning cellphones while driving or limiting the number of passengers a teenager can have in a car, the distractions can decrease. With the distractions decreasing, teenagers will have less accidents. As the STANDUP Act provides more requirements, drivers will have to learn them. Once drivers have a good understanding about how to be a safe driver, there will be less accidents, including fatalities. Knowledge is key to success, so why wouldn’t it be important to know the requirements to be a successful driver? Overall, I believe that the STANDUP Act will help decrease the number of fatalities for drivers in the United States. In the act, there is nothing that could do any harm to anyone, besides making it a longer period of time to get a license. If it is for the right cause, then all of the STANDUP requirements should be established. A major part of driving is having knowledge and gaining experience through driving.
