Over the years, the struggle of becoming a popular artist in the music industry has gotten more and more competitive. Artists would struggle to find something that made them stand out from the rest, and eventually give up on trying to be illustrious, conforming to the basic chord structures and rhythms of every other popular tune. However, for twenty seven years, the expressionistic band Radiohead has constantly risen above the musical standards, ignoring everything about classical music theory and the common practice. Using poetic lyrics, engaging theoretical structure, and assonate rhythms, Radiohead creates their own genre that separates them from the rest of the conforming rock genre. Radiohead was formed in 1982, consisting of five close friends. Thom Yorke was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and piano player, Ed O’Brien played guitar and appeared in some backing vocals, Philip Selway played drums and various other percussion instruments, Jonny Greenwood was another guitarist and keyboardist, accompanied by his brother, Colin Greenwood, on bass guitar.
