1) Introduction: In the movie When a men Loves a women Alice Green is a school counselor who got married to a pilot Michael Green who she meet in a bar. She is the mother of two daughters who develops a severe drinking problem becoming an alcoholic with substance abuse disorder. Her husband patiently deal with the situation until it became a threat for her children safety, therefore she and her husband decided that the best option of treatment was to enter a rehab center. When she finished her treatment upon returning home, she finds out that her new lifestyle isn’t as the way it was before funny and adventurous and instead now she feels agitated and pissed causing a break in their marriage, leading to couple therapy and finding each other …show more content…
When she realize she had a drinking problem she tried to stop but she couldn’t, she was hiding bottles of alcohol in the closet and in the draws getting up late at night to drink without her husband noticing. She started suffering from insomnia, she was feeling sad and depress, she was driving drunk and forgetting house shores and neglecting her two daughters. One day she got home drunk and she was alone with her two daughters, her oldest daughter went to see how she was and she neglected her by telling her to go do her homework. She went to the restroom and staring drinking vodka with aspirin while her daughter was watching her. Her daughter ask her if she was sick and Alice hit her in the face, she ran away and Alice stared taking a bath were she passed out and felt on the floor. After that incident she went to the hospital and realized she had to do something about her alcolism and her and her husband decided to intern her on a rehab clinic were she was going to receive a detox treatment. She then confesses to her husband that she usually starts to drink at four in the morning lasting all day. She was drinking in the shower, closet and in the kitchen. She also confesses to him that she was scared of everything. I would diagnose Alice with a mental illness disorder cause by substance abuse based on her symptoms and her
