Using Wheel Dollies for Car Restoration Projects
Vendors sell wheel dollies at car shows, swap meets and you see them in the back of automotive publications. Their manufacturers claim these units will make moving a vehicle around the shop quick and simple. They even go as far to say that you can move an automobile by yourself in any direction with ease.
As someone with a [Pontiac Trans Am restoration project] waiting in the wings and a [British built sports car] on deck, moving things around easily sounds great. In fact, with a two bay detached garage and a flat three-car shared driveway, it appears to be exactly what I'm looking for.

Because of the car’s small size, we figured that if we pushed it up against the wall when not working on it, our other two cars would also fit in the garage during this time consuming process.
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, we purchased the appropriate load rated wheel dollies for the MG TC Roadster. Each of the 4 dollies had the advertised maximum load capacity to hold 1000 pounds for a total of 4000 pounds when used together. The MG weighs in at around 1500 pounds.
