What's Up Doc

The maker of some like it hot, what’s up doc, and bringing up baby created a film that was funny, romantic, and cheesy. The storyline in all these films is not realistic. They are for entertainment and comedy. Most of these movies have roughly the same plot line. It typically revolves around a man and a woman in some sort of complicated situation. At the end of the movie, they end up together. In the first movie Bringing Up Baby, they managed to accomplish their goals in some areas. It was a romance type of movie because the character Susan was in love with David and she planned on marrying him. She’d often cause trouble to try to get him to be involved with whatever she caused. This film was one of the better screwball comedy films that we’ve seen in class. The acting in this movie was perfect. They talked extremely fast and for whatever reason Susan seemed to be quite smart at certain points. There was countless laugh out loud moments too. This whole movie is the definition of a screwball comedy film. Even though Susan was really annoying, it was hard not to enjoy this film. They did a fantastic job …show more content…
I don't know why, but I absolutely hated that movie. I found all the characters were extremely annoying and same goes with the plot. The only part I actually found enjoyable was the ending. The ending saved the movie, if it weren’t for the ending, that movie would be an absolute waste of time and effort. The acting also wasn’t the best. It felt like it was all forced and the chemistry between all the characters was just off. It didn’t seem like the character Eunice and Howard “loved each other.” It felt more like Eunice was Howard’s mother or something. The way Howard and Judy got together felt rushed. It was like they planned it all out, but seeing it on screen was last minute. The part when Howard told Judy that he loves her was so fake. It did not seem genuine whatsoever. For me, this movie missed its

Where as I normally end up arguing against why a film should be considered a horror film, this time I'm going other way and argue why Lightning Bug is a Horror film. As I stated in Horror, My Definition, a Horror film is a film that used dread and horror, while trying to evoke negative emotions. Lightning Bug does that for me, upon first viewing I wasn't that impressed and disregarded is horror elements. Instead focusing on how its a Coming of Age Drama. But after viewing the film never really settled and has passed through my mind on several occasions and when I reflect on the film it's dark and haunting undertones that remain.…

I loved it and was good at it, too. I never fit the norm of girls not being good at math- until sixth grade. The science and social studies teachers paled in comparison to the abhorrent Mrs. B. She perfectly fit the description of the old, snippy, brutal teacher portrayed in movies. It was clear to see that she hated kids and hated her job. I am not just griping and complaining because I did not like her as a person; she ranks right up there as one of the worst teachers ever.…

I like to say their pacing was very correct and right on time with each other’s lines. It was very believable. Both of their facial expressions were very impressive and easy to catch without showing exaggeration. Especially, I liked the acting of Myrtle Mae and how she made her facial expression. When Myrtle Mae needed to show surprise or embarrassment, it was really cute and wasn’t effusive at all.…

I really enjoyed this film the characters were fun and so was the dialogue. The film almost remind me of 10 Things I Hate About You which was said to be based of a Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew, in which the leading lady was originally against marriage yet somehow was tricked into one. Jan is the shrew which is defined as an ill-tempered woman characterised by scolding and nagging and Brad is the man that tames her as his alter ego Rex. Rex represents everything Brad is not and that is the only reason why Jan fell in love with him. In my honest opinion, Brad is a creepy and I would not want go to his house of horrors for anything.…

The Romantic Comedy genre is one of the most popular yet overlooked genre in the film industry. The cheesy dialogues, witty behavior, sexual tension, heart melting monologues and the friction between the main two characters in a romantic comedy film, is what makes this genre so loved and cherished. According to most people, the romantic comedies are viewed as ‘guilty pleasures’. In his book Boy Meets Girl Meets Genre, Jeffers McDonald disagrees with that statement by saying that “the appeal to audiences of such films in more complex, especially if the viewer inhabits a position where conflicting pulls of realism and fantasy operating” (McDonald 2007).…

Jenna Yun Mr. Leckey AP Psychology Period 6 10/30/15 AP Psychology Extra Credit Movie Quarter 1 Overall, my thoughts on the film, The Silver Linings Playbook, were positive. I found it interesting that the author decided to connect mental disorders and dancing together. The fact that Pat, played by Bradley Cooper, and Tiffany, played by Jennifer Lawrence, were able to overcome their mental illnesses by dancing together was significant. In addition, the movie showcased the changes in a family relationship really well and had unique characters that were different from previous movies I saw. For example, Pat’s father has OCD and believed in superstition, while Pat’s mother looked over the family quietly.…

Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot, is one of the more popular comedic works of its time. The movie showcases genres of romance, crime and comedy while creating an obvious juxtaposition of male and female characters. The movie highlights central themes regarding gender and sexuality. Marilyn Monroe’s character represents the quintessential cinematic female fantasy, as she represents the seemingly all too innocent, naive, sensual and sexual female representation that she has been largely popularized by. In spite of the movies light comedic angle it showcases some relevant beliefs on the pervasive attitudes around female relationships, sexuality, gender norms roles and values.…
