Parana Pine: For the Parana Pine I obtained the published value from a website since the values on the lab sheet didn’t have a values for Parana Pine. Firstly, I calculated my own Young’s Modulus Value with the result got from the tests using the equation for Young’s Modulus in Bending: E= l³/(4bd^3 ) x ( Δw)/( Δx) From using this equation, I achieved 14.44 E/GPa as a value, the published value, was: 11.37 E/GPa found on ‘The Wood Database’. The difference between my results and the Published values is: 3.07, and it was still within the range of the published value. Regarding the accuracy of the test, since this was my first time conducting this type of test, there may have been some mistakes I made that could have affected the results…

In an effort to ensure the accuracy of these types of tests, the instruments used to conduct them are regularly inspected and calibrated. Breath tests used by law enforcement agencies in the state of Florida must be checked by the agencies themselves each month. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement must also inspect them each year.…

Furthermore, the breathalyser instrument can be used on the fly, meaning that the person tested does not have to leave their car. Also, the test duration is not very long and therefore time spent on each driver is short. Other alternatives such as blood tests may be more accurate than breathalysers, but are inconvenient and invasive (DUIBlog, 2015). Breathalyzers can be used as an initial screening method before the blood test. This is because the blood test requires the driver to leave their car to go to the police car to get tested which would be inconvenient for the driver.…

In April 2011, President Obama addressed the issue in the White House position paper, Epidemic: Responding to America’s Prescription Drug Abuse Crisis. The Obama administration announced it would seek legislation-requiring doctors to undergo training before being permitted to prescribe potent narcotics (Smith 68). The FDA is currently undergoing investigations of how they can productively address the opioid abuse in America, “taking action to protect patients from serious harm due to these drugs, [finding a] careful balance between continued access to these necessary medications and stronger measures to reduce their risks.”…
