God has tested my faith by throwing distractions that lead me away from a particular task I was going to do. For example, if I was told to clean my room or some other activity, I might get sidetracked and do something else like playing games or messing around. My response is always different. Under Pressure As humans, we make sacrifices every single day for many different reasons with many different intentions. According to the Cambridge dictionary, compromise is defined as “an agreement between two sides who have different opinions, in which each side gives up something it had wanted”. And sacrifice can be defined with “giving up something for something else considered more important.” Two similar definitions for two very different words. These choices are seen throughout literature, for instance, Lev and Conor, in Neal Shusterman’s Unwind struggle with this idea of sacrifice- as do Lincoln and Jordan in Michael Bay’s film The Island.…

It has been said that what we value can be determined only by what we sacrifice. This applies to several characters in Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible, especially Orleanna, Nathan, and their daughters. Through their sacrifices, characteristics and values become evident in these characters that would not be understood otherwise. The sacrifices made by these characters contribute to the novel as a whole by giving it depth and greater meaning, just as these sacrifices make each character’s intentions clear and presence throughout the novel more relevant. Orleanna made countless sacrifices throughout the novel for her husband.…

Without the people that helped to prosper this country, the United States wouldn't be where it is today. The people that were the founders of this country had to do a lot of work and make a lot of sacrifices, like Abigail Adams when she choose to devote her life to her husband, John Adams, and whatever his life held. Abigail is not recognized much in history but she still did play a big part. It is always important to try to tie scripture with whatever you're doing. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.…

If you were to think about someone or something that had to sacrifice something you would probably think of a Abel, Abraham, soldier, a politician, or cop. A person to really think about is Orleanna Price. Orleanna gave up sanity by living with her husband Nathan, sacrificed her “normal” American life by going to the Congo, and she sacrificed her own life to take care of her children. When Orleanna was a young girl she was free spirited but then she married Nathan. Orleanna Price is a deep-thinking, intelligent woman, but because of her selfish, ignorant, and belligerent husband Nathan, dictatorship like attitude, she’s often forced to hide and trap in her feelings, she also has to sacrifice her needs and pleasures, especially in the Congo.…

“Sacrifices have to be made” Acts Of Sacrifice By: Lars Jorgensen In Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe our main character Okonkwo is constantly facing sacrifices that must be made to improve the lives of his people and himself. Taking a man's life in order to not look weak is not the true meaning of sacrifice, its giving apart of you to the world around you for a benefit for you or your peers. Everyone has responsibilities that have to be carried or else some sort of consequence will occur sooner or later, and with those responsibilities come sacrifices. For example maybe you have a essay due at 11:59 but you really want to go out with your friends to hangout, so therefore you have to make a sacrifice either go hangout with your friends and get a bad grade or turn it in and get a good grade, so therefore you have to see what you”ll gain or lose from the outcome of…
