What's Going On Down There? is a book, with lots of great cartoon artwork that adds a little comedy without taking away from the importance of the subject at hand. The drawings the illustrator, Robert Leighton, uses are funny and educational caricatures that help ease any confusion and frustration many adolescent boys might feel. The diagrams used are helpful, and the goofy, sometimes explicit pictures turn boys’ discomfort into laughter. A couple of the interesting things about the book, is that it is very different from any other books of its kind. For example, the chapter "Girls Are Changing Too" offers detailed information about girls, not typically presented in books for males. And in "If I'd Known Then What I Know Now!" several adult men offer insights and different perspectives on puberty.
