Throughout the movie Arnie presents different undeveloped skills. Arnie does not have a very developed vocabulary most of the time he repeats what other people say and imitates his brother Gilbert. For example, when he and Gilbert were eating the Burger Barn, Gilbert said “wow” right after that Arnie also say it or when he constantly repeated “do not disappear again.” He also yells and jumps when he was very exited. Arnie also presented a positive attitude usually when he was in trouble, for example, when the police arrested him he was so excited the only thing he cared about was if the police sirens were on. Another characteristic was that Arnie was always playing hide and seek which actually a non disabled 18-year-old boy wouldn’t play. Another aspect of this movie was that Arnie couldn’t bath himself, Gilbert had to shower him, always took him everywhere he went and protected him from the people who wanted to hurt him. Also Arnie wasn’t conscious of what he was saying, in the movie there is a scene where he began yelling that their father is dead at the table but he doesn’t realize that what he is doing is not right or when Mr. Carver funeral he began yelling and didn’t care what was going on around him. Arnie wasn’t aware of anything around his life at the beginning of the movie he asked Gilbert how much time they had to wait for Becky and her grandmother which Gilbert said 3 million which in reality 3 million is a lot. What also happen in the movie was that Gilbert was overprotected. His family were always taking care of him that they never took the time to teach Arnie how to
