Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy is a treatment method that attempts to improve cognitive deficits to enhance safety, current functioning, and independence to further increase overall quality of life (Sohlberg & Mateer, 2001). This approach involves a wide range of therapeutic techniques and activities to assist in the restoration of brain functions and the counteraction of cognitive deficits through the use of newly learned compensatory strategies (Saux, Demey, Rojas, & Feldberg, 2014). These techniques include, but are not limited to, Direct Process Training, Skill Specific Training, and the use of compensatory strategies including environmental modifications, metacognition, and internal and external aids (Sohlberg & Mateer, 2001).
