1. What are your expectations coming into this class?
My expectations of this class are to learn about different nutrition intervention programs and how effective are these. My expectation is to be able to use what I learn from this class into my personal life as well as my professional life in the health field. I also expect to learn about nutrition-related problems that I am not aware at this time.
2. What are you apprehensive about?
I am apprehensive about learning that the current policies and nutrition intervention programs are not effective or well planned and I that will feel frustrated about these not working at a community, national, and global level.

What are your primary sources of information about food and nutrition? Why?
My primary sources of information about food and nutrition are the media (information from news and the internet) and word of mouth. Secondary sources are documentaries and articles. Why? I think that because these are the most common sources and because generally the information is just provided meaning that I was not specifically doing research on a specific topic about food but information is given through a conversation or while watching the news.
6. What personal experience have you had with hunger and malnutrition in your own life, and/or in those close to you?
I have not experienced hunger or malnutrition in my life, but my mother suffered from hunger and malnutrition during the first seven years of her life. She lived in rural Mexico during her childhood and it was very hard for my grandmother to support her three kids. My mother was adopted by a family at age eight and since then had access to nutritious food and did not experience hunger again. I do think based on her memories that her experience with hunger and malnutrition still affects her emotionally and in her dietary habits and choices. Many patients at the free clinic where I volunteer suffer from food insecurity and I have learned from their experience with hunger and
