What Writing Means Wrong

Writing... It´s been with us since we were born and it will stay with us until we die. I can’t complain though because writing has made me the way I am today, it has taught me how to use correct grammar, good detail and how to start my essays off with a nice thesis statement. From all the writing we have done over the course of school you would think you know what it means right??? Wrong. Everyone has a different view of what writing means, if they like it or not, if they do it in their free time or not I view writing as a way to escape from the outside world (unless you're writing an informational essay, in that case you have a STRICT criteria you have to follow which to some people could be a drag). Overall, I have had a pretty good experience

At the beginning of the quarter I didn’t know nearly half of what I know now, I thought literacy was the ability to read, write, and have knowledge of writing. I never would have guessed literacy also means knowledge in a specific area. My writing skills have also came a long ways since the beginning of the quarter. I have written 5 papers including this one, and I’m sure the newest is better than the one before.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Writing has changed my perspective on various aspects of my life. Some of the essays that I have written in the past have opened doors to new ideas. These essays have helped me make connections I feel I never would have made without writing. I believe this is because I enter my deepest level of concentration when I write. This heightened level of concentration I reach when writing has allowed me to reflect on important areas in my life such as self-awareness and motivation.…

In order to become a stronger writer one must recognize his errors. In my previous essays I have not done a good job of expressing my subtopics. I have made the mistake of hiding my subtopics, making them unclear. In order to fix this problem I could create a web or some sort of visual that will allow me to organize my thoughts. Having a specific sentence in the beginning of each paragraph will also orientate the reader on what to look for in that specific paragraph.…

Writing is different for everyone. We all have interesting stories to tell. If there is one thing that is true for every writer, it is that we all have an inner critic. Allegra Goodman advises writers how to get past their inner critic in her article, “Calming the Inner Critic and Getting to Work”. Silencing my inner judgments can be one of the most challenging parts of writing, but once the critic is silenced something magical and therapeutic emerges.…

The goal of the following study will be to investigate the errors that EFL(English as a foreign language) learners make in English. The focus will be on the mistakes that the participants make in grammar, and the researcher will attempt to understand whether such errors are due to transfer from the participants’ L1 and/or if they are related to aspects such as gender, age, and profession.
