What Did Imperialism Cause Ww1

There were over 35 million civilian and soldier casualties in WWI. Over 15 million died and 20 million were wounded. These figures are actually terrifying. The question is: what were main causes that made First World War more likely? Although there were many factors involved, I believe that the combination of nationalism, militarism and imperialism were the most influential in causing the conflict. First of all, I want to discuss nationalism. Nationalism was a great cause of WWI. The idea of nationalism is to show that you are proud of your country and want it to be the best. The use of nationalism gave nations false hope and made them think that aggression would win the war. Even if though they had poor leadership and insufficient plans, they decided to go to war based on this aggressive ideology. Fore example Germany. Imperialism is when a country increases their power and wealth by bringing additional territories under their control. European Imperialism was one of the biggest cause of World War I. Three biggest countries were involved : Germany, Britain and France. With many countries such as Britain, Germany, and France colonizing and expanding, tensions began to build between the countries over the land they each wanted.
