I think that the saddest part of the book is when Kii has to go to boarding school. He has to be separated from his family. Which would be sad for anyone. Especially for him because he is a Native American and they value family more than anything. Also it would be hard for his family that is staying home, knowing they wont be able to see their son for a while.
What was the most interesting part of the book?
I think the most interesting part is the certain beliefs that the Indians have. For example they think that cutting you hair will bring misfortune to you. To you and me a haircut means nothing. But to them it’s a big deal because of the way they grew up. It just fascinates me that some people think completely different then others. The Indians grew up being taught that your hair should always be long. But for us it means nothing. Also some Muslims we taught from an early age that suicide bombing is acceptable. I learned about this point of history was that the white men were trying to over power all of the minorities. All the white people wanted it their way mostly I think is because the white men did not want change. They didn’t like their beliefs or their realigns. Just like the white people treated black people they discriminated against them because they were different. Also that World War 2 was raging all across the world that was devastating most
