What was the Revolutionary War and what events happened that lead to the war?

Problem [why is it important]

I have chosen the topic of the Revolutionary War. I also have chosen to talk about all the events that happened leading up to the war. I choose this topic because the Revolutionary War was an important war that lead to America gaining independence from Great Britain. I wanted to write my research paper on this war because it was a war, that in my opinion, could have easily been avoided. If the king and his counsel would have left things alone in the thirteen colonies, war wouldn’t have been necessary at all. I also thought this topic was good is because many people are confused on this war and don’t understand that it gave America freedom. I want people to know about the war that allowed America it’s freedom and all the events that happened. Research findings

It took a lot of commitment and dedication on both sides. I still feel however that if certain things, like raising tax on important things that the British knew the colonies would need, never happened the war could have been by-passed it never would have happened. The people in the 13 colonies were happy; they liked living in America they didn’t mind being under the king’s rule. However, I guess the king thought making those laws were best for the colonies. He didn’t take into consideration at the time that by doing so he was setting his self-up for war. I don’t think the King cared either he was so worried about getting more money that he didn’t honestly care if his actions caused a war. The colonies in my opinion were right to start a war against the British it was a good move and by them starting that war America is now free and not under Great Britain’s

In the Spanish American War promises that were made were broken leading to a brutal war and a not so democratic solution. After the First World War Woodrow wanted to spread democracy but his fourteen point plan was not supported by the rest of America therefore not successfully spreading democracy overseas. In the case of when America first went overseas to begin associations with other nations, the motives that America had would be considered pure but turned into a situation that could be abused. When we refer back to Washington’s statement that America only ever went overseas to promote and protect democracy is not fully accurate but it can be believed that on the surface and right off the bat that America did only go overseas to promote and protect…

"In late September 1939, he asked Congress to revise the Neutrality Act to allow the sale of weapons to nations at war on a "cash and carry" basis." (Campbell) Even though at fist FDR was very much towards being neutral he still wanted to support Europe in their efforts to end the war. By doing so he wanted to create some laws that would give the United States the ability to support Europe without getting involved right into the war, but still roped the United States somewhat into the war. "Most Americans detested the Nazi dictatorship, yet they favored…

Other things that did was the fact they signed the declaration of independence without Britain know and they considered this treason and that is another thing that sparked this war. Ben Franklin played a huge role in ending the revolution and making America a republic instead of a dictatorship. For the longest time they did not know what they wanted but they knew that they did not want the kind of leadership that Britain had. The declaration of independence was a stand up for freedom document. They were tired of living under British rule and decided to break away from them and go towards a new direction.…

The American people were enthusiastic about the new state but Jefferson “worried that the purchase might be unconstitutional. The president pointed out that the Constitution did not specifically authorize the acquisition of vast new territories and the incorporation of thousands of foreign citizens.” (PG. 185) Although he felt his act was unconstitutional he still sent Lewis and Clark to explore the vast territory. Also once he became president he realized we needed a stronger government to take on unexpected challenges, leading him to put money back into the army, which goes against his low spending…

The American Revolution was primarily a conservative revolution, because the rebels weren’t trying to create something that was new, unheard of, or radically different. The rebels were simply trying to restore things back to the way they had been before the Seven Years War. Even some British understood the logic behind the revolution and were not keen on putting forth money, time and effort in order to stop it. The British had been radically changing their policies towards Americans after the Seven Years War, so the Americans were conservative in attempting to restore their ideas of representation and government. But, the rebels were also radical in the sense that they were overthrowing the government and declaring themselves an independent…

During the War for Independence the colonists had to decide whether to be a Loyalist or a Patriot. To me choosing to be a Loyalist was the best thing they could have done for the war. Many of the Sons of Liberty and the Patriots didn’t know how to respect England. The American Colonists did some very disrespectful things to us Loyalists and they didn’t respect our views! Although numerous Americans think that England gave us taxation without representation, we should have just gone along with the taxes since we deserved them and refrained from war against England.…

Most of the colonist just wanted that representation which they seemed to lack. They knew that England would never stop taxing them, so the only choice they seemed to have was to separate from the country totally. It was fundamental in the sense that they were separating themselves from their country and they believed in fewer to no taxes and much less government control. So the question remains; Was the war necessary and was the outcome of the war worth the losses that were created. Let’s take a moment to reflect on why the revolutionary war was a necessity for America and why I feel that the colonist/Americans had no other choice, but to fight the war.…
