What was the Most import thing in the reading?

“Most: (Schloss, P.J., & Cragg, K.M., 2013) states and lead academe out of its troubles, preferably somebody whose words are not simply rhetoric but rather someone who understand leadership for change.”

There should be voices that people have the upmost respect for on campus. It should start with leadership. Leadership has to create an environment that is welcoming for feedback and criticism. Leadership is also not one directional and individuals are able to share their thoughts and ideas without fear of retribution. Everyone does not enjoy change, but change can be good to ensure that an institution states solvent. With the General Assembly decreasing the amount of funding awarded to colleges, we will one day have to truly be self-sufficient and it is a balancing act, but processes and procedures will have to be implemented, but with work that is performed by the campus leadership through strategic planning, academic programs, student graduation, and funding to sustain a university.

I did not understand that most students did not graduate in 5 years until I started working in higher education. I have talked with several alumni who state that one they did not understand what giving back was until much later in life. When most students graduate from college, they are normally frustrated with their institutions and don’t plan on giving anything. Universities have to understand also that there is a balance between the needs of the students (customers) and the institutions. In higher education, I don’t believe the customer is always right, but we do have to ensure that we provide a service to allow the students to be successful because if we do not, they will go other places to obtain an
