This article is split up into multiple parts and it talks about how the enlightenment started and the impacts it has had on europe. It also briefly mentions that it wasn’t just europe that was affected but also scholars in america began reading some of the scriptures from european philosophers and how Thomas Jefferson was influenced by some of John Locke’s ideas when drafting the declaration of independance and the Constitution. Section 7.2 talks about how some people were reluctant to adopt the new progressive way of thinking. The awakening was an attempt to counter the enlightenment, extremely religious people were trying to convert people and spread the word of god. This source is reliable because of the credibility of the
