There was a time when I was young and naive; more than I am now as this event is taking place around seven years ago. It was the ordinary school day, starting with my mom dropping me off through carpool, eating a granola bar in the car since I was late sleeper and whiner. Every single morning of my second-grade year, we started with vocabulary words and this day happened to be a Monday, meaning we would receive new words to cut and paste into a small notebook. Frankly, I did not enjoy that being the first activity of the day. Grammar has nevr and will nevre be my favorite subject. Walking try into the r oom I have faced the same consistent problem of locating someone to attempt to talk to. These phases of my life I was a small, shy child, not the typical outgoing person I am to this day and many people are used to. I didn't have any friends or acquaintances as it was my first year attending a public school. My eyes glancing around the room, I settle on to sit next to a girl with sandy blonde hair in a mohawk and crooked teeth. Her name was Cooper. We instantly began to talk and she seemed nice enough towards me for me to continue sitting there. Everything was nice and calm. We were …show more content…
Then there was a scream and a teeny, less than a centimeter cut with a tiny amount of blood. Everything kicked in. I felt like everyone was staring at me and that I've become a murderer. I was immediately rushed out of the room and into a room where I would talk to the principal and counselor. This is was the schools opening year, and as it had only been a month or two into the school, this was like an interrogation. I had burst into tears, shaking my boots. I didn't really know what I had done wrong as she told me to do. I started with talking to the counselor who started to ask me had I felt and tons of other questions. Until the one question did arrive that no one would believe me

A common question throughout students and teachers worldwide is, is intelligence something that is fixed or something that can grow or change? In the article “Brainology” by Carol Dweck we learn the process of how students learn to have a fixed mindset versus a growth mindset and how it affects their learning. It is believed that parents who praise their child for being smart in general tend to have a fixed mindset and those parents who praise their child for the hard work they did tend to have a growth mindset. Those with a fixed mindset tend to believe that intelligence is fixed and it can not be changed no matter how hard you try. Growth mindsets tend to believe intelligence is something that can be cultivated so that the harder they work…

Although I was born in the United States, I have spent the first half of my life living in other countries. As glamorous as that may sound, it is far from that; instead, it had made me feel like a social outcast. All this moving around did not allow me to establish a firm cultural foundation, and I found myself being very introverted, shy, and reclusive; I just never really “fit in” anywhere I lived. To make matters worse, my parents were so oblivious to this; I felt like I could not even talk to them about how I felt. I was born in New York in 1969 and the following year my mother decided she wanted us to move to her home place in Switzerland.…

My Junior year of high school was my challenging year, the reason to that is because we had to study for our Act also we had our grad MCAs to take. I must say it was really difficult knowing that we had those two big major tests in the same week. The amount of studying was ridiculous but in my head for a whole two months I was reminding myself that it will benefit me in the future that I need this to graduate. One part I didn 't have to worry was a portion of the MCA like the Algebra part. But the part that was extremely hard for me was geometry.…

Everyone has their fair share of drinking stories and they all vary from funny, sad, or stupid. My first time drinking with friends is a good mix of all three. We can blame it all we want on being young and stupid but looking back I think of it as a good time and an opportunity to learn a lesson. Almost everyone there dealt with the repercussions of our actions and somewhat regret what we did. Deciding to drink after our junior homecoming led to us getting suspended from sports for a week, two months of counselor meetings, and a bad reputation for a while if not the rest of high school.…
