Macbeth choices become more and more drastic as the play progresses. We see that what Macbeth's chooses to do, forms his future. All the people he decides to kill lead him to his own failure. The butterfly effect is a great concept that can be applied in this instance. Macbeth makes his first major decision by killing king Duncan, and from here the decision only get more drastic. Killing Banquo makes the entire kingdom fall into treasonous chaos, and everyone wants him dead. This is how Macbeth's choices created his future.

In the beginning, these characteristics are positive. When Macbeth changes his mindset, we start to see these characteristics as being negative. His expectation of high achievement drives him to feel the need to be king, and this eventually leads to Duncan's death.
