What Was Brutus Use Of Ethos In Antony's Speech

Why was Antony’s speech better that Brutus’s? Antony’s speech was better because it focused more on Emotion (Pathos) which is more appealing to human nature, rather than Brutus’s appeal to logic (Logos) and trust (Ethos). Even though they both use rhetoric there is a lot of differences and similarities in their speeches. Still one triumphs over the other and persuades the Roman people to riot and plot against the Conspirators. Brutus allowed this to happen by leaving and allowing Antony to speak unopposed at Caesar's funeral. Even in Brutus speech he makes mistakes especially by fooling himself into believing that the Roman people are as smart as he is. When Brutus gave his speech he used logic and emotion. What Brutus most used is logic by trying to convince the Roman people that Caesar would have been a tyrant and enslaved them all. “Had you rather Ceaser were living and died all slaves, that Ceaser were dead, to live all men free” (III,ii,22-24.)Which is what the Roman people have had to live without for over 200yrs.
