Primarily, one thing that I found interesting was that the amounts of divorces in America nearly doubled. It was about 400,000 divorces in 1960 and was about 800,000 in 2015. This shows that people …show more content…
This was probably due to inflation. Also, a huge difference is the role of women. Nowadays, women work together with men and don’t work at home as much. Everyone may not be exactly equal but we are getting there. Additionally, many Europeans came to America, but today many Asians and people from the Middle East are coming.
Thirdly, the thing I found surprising is that the society’s style was pretty much fluorescent colors. Girls wore dresses and guys wore shirts and pants. Today, we are wearing things like skinny jeans and crop tops. We are going back into 1990s fashion as well. People are bringing back chokers. Also, I found that people back then were more into comedy shows such as the Andy Griffith show and The Brady Bunch. Today, people are watching gory and violent shows like the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
Overall, if I had a choice to pick between the 1960s and now, I would live in the present. There isn’t as much racism and definitely not a lot of segregation. Also, the TV shows are much better now and technology is amazing. Many people would choose to live in 2016 because a lot of things have improved and are much better. So, it’s true that the present is a gift; you should enjoy it while it
