What skills do you have that can add value to gener8tor/gBETA?
Three ways that that I can add value to gener8tor/gBETA are with my organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
One asset that I possess that can add value to gener8tor/gBETA is my ability to organize. I developed these organizational skills during my time spent as a Chef at a restaurant. I was 16 years old and had no kitchen experience when I was put into this role. This situation pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and at times I didn’t like it, but I continue to reap the benefits from the experience. I developed my problem-solving skills through my previous work experiences. Nothing ever runs exactly as it should, and that was particularly evident when I worked for Kohler on the assembly line. A job that should have been as simple as repeatedly doing the same task turned into a constant problem-solving battle involving missing parts and part numbers, old equipment, and sometimes difficult employees. These issues gave me numerous opportunities to work with those around me to find out what caused a problem and how we can fix it so the line can continue to run. I have used this experience in my academic life by being a very careful problem solver. In group projects, I am always on the lookout for signs of when things aren’t quite right and don’t add up. When it comes to homework, I am not satisfied until I know exactly what went wrong and why. My problem-solving skills will add value for gener8tor/gBETA because a large chunk of work in the business world is making something more efficient or finding a cheaper way of doing something which are both two things that I am good at …show more content…
Eventually, I want to enter the startup scene myself, hopefully as a founder. Therefore, being able to make connections to the Madison entrepreneur community will help jumpstart my efforts to starting my own business. In addition, being exposed to startup work and culture will further my understanding of how owning my own business would work and what some of the benefits and challenges that I may face would be. Exposure to the startup world is another reason I want to work for
