What should I do after graduation? Should I start going to work or should I continue going to school? These were the questions we had when we were about to graduate from high school. For many of us, our parents had answered these questions for us. It was for us to go to college to get a good education and obtain a good career. However, the decision is still ultimately ours to decide. If we decided to continue our education, we faced with more questions. The most important question, among many, that we come to face is whether or not a higher education is worth the price and time? Followed by will the degree pay for itself in the end? Do having a higher education actually have a direct correlation to great career benefits and salary? Lastly, …show more content…
For instance, after landing a great career after college graduation with a degree, employee can expect to have benefits such as paid holidays off, medical coverages, retirement program, life insurances, paid vacations, fitness programs, and the list just goes on and on. Not to mention, the direct correlation to salary is, according to the United States Department of Labor: Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median usual weekly earnings of an individuals with a Bachelor’s degree is one thousand one hundred and thirty seven dollars as of 2015. It provides people an abundant of choices in what they would like to do. Especially for individuals who are certain of what they wanted to do. In which case, the person would go and explore the alternatives such as trade school. Trade school would allow them to gain a specific skill for a specific career of their choice (trade-school.net, The Simple Dollar, and Huffington Post: Business). Referring back to the United States department of Labor, a college degree can earn double the amount of an individual that does not have a degree. Furthermore, according to trade-school.net, they stated that, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, fourteen of the twenty fastest-growing occupations only require an associate’s degree or less. And eighteen of the twenty occupations projected to have the most new jobs by 2020 have the same minimal requirements (trade-school.net). These alternatives may not be proper higher education but it is still a form of higher education that provide a form of degree or certificate for completion to obtain a stable career.
