There are many different types of selection methods available to choose from for employers. There are four types of selections methods (Open University 2015); references, interviews, psychometric tests and assessment centres.
References are the contact details of people the candidates has previously worked for. These are considered extremely unhelpful, as the candidate can provide only the reference for biased employers who would praise them. Interviews are considered the most popular method of filtering through candidates, as this gives the employers a chance to gauge the personality of the candidate and see if they might be a good fit in the organisation. Furthermore, it allows them to ask any questions regarding the candidates resume and get a better understanding of their types of experiences or previous jobs.
