What Role Does The Friar Play In Romeo And Juliet

Decent Essays
In the story Romeo and Juliet which three characters do you think play the biggest role. Well throughout the story of Romeo and Juliet I believe that the Friar, Romeo, and Juliet have the most impact on the story. But that is my opinion. First off, I believe that if Romeo would have never went to that party he would have never met Juliet and fell in love. He would still been going after Rosaline and wouldn’t have killed himself. He might have to try really and get heart broken a few times but that would be better. Plus he wouldn’t have made the feud worse between the familys if he went to Rosaline for a second chance. Another reason if him and Rosaline got together he wouldn’t have to sneak arounbd with her like he does Juliet. Second,

The question, “What character was most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet” can simply be answered with the one and only Prince of Cats (“Tybalt”). This hotheaded fellow’s character is summarized with his few words of, “What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee” (act 1 scene 1 line 85). The Prince is always on the balls of his feet looking for fights to jump into and especially fights to start. The Friar is to blame for all that was happening. If he would have brought that letter to romeo then he might not have even had to kill himself. Even though the Friar got stuck trying not to catch the black plague he still should’ve at least try to make it to Romeo. The Friar could’ve legitimately kill juliet if he gave her the wrong potion. Romeo would’ve never thought to go to juliet’s tomb and think she’s actually dead if he got the letter and realized Juliet wasn't dead.…

I think that Friar Lawrence is the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths and here is my reasoning for why. My first claim to why Friar Lawrence is to blame is because he is the one who married Romeo And Juliet. If he wouldn’t have said the words “Till holy church incorporate two in one” (found on page page 858), then Romeo and Juliet wouldn't have gotten married and then it would not have led to Romeo thinking Juliet was dead, which brings me to my next reason. Friar Lawrence made a plan with Juliet to have her consume a potion intended to trick Paris into thinking Juliet had died.…

In this play, their deaths are at the fault of Friar Lawrence who, being an adult, a man of God and a trusted person in the community, betrayed that trust and kept a foolish the secret of Romeo and Juliet in hope that it would end the feud between the two families, the Capulets and Montague’s.
