What Role Does Star War Play In Luke's Journey?

Improved Essays
Star War is a movie about an adventure that takes a kid named Luke across the galaxy in epic battles, and wars. His adventure starts when he first meets his mentor named Obi-wan Kenobi. Obi-wan tells Luke about his father, how he was a Jedi Knight, and that Obi-wan trained Luke’s father. Obi-wan then gives Luke his dad’s old lightsaber and teaches Luke about the force, and how he and his father have it. The lightsaber plays an important role in the journey that Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader) takes, in Luke's journey, and has more meaning than just a magical weapon.

Anakin Skywalker started his journey with the lightsaber back when he was still learning about the force, and how to control it. He was found by Obi-wan on Tatooine as a kid and was taught by Obi-wan. He used the lightsaber on his journey to discover who he was. He lost it in episode 3 when he lost a fight to Obi-wan and had 3 limbs cut off and was burned. Obi-wan took his lightsaber, kept it and watched over Luke over the years to make sure Anakin (Darth Vader) never found his son after he turned to the dark side and joined the Emperor to take over the galaxy.

Later Luke gets his hand cut off by Vader when Vader was trying to get Luke to join the dark side. The lightsaber was in Luke’s hand at the time, and it fell along with his hand under cloud city. It's a symbol that represents the good left inside Vader and shows how now he is willing to hurt his own son just to take over the galaxy. In episode 6 Luke has a green saber and uses that from now on. Also in episode 6 Vader’s good comes back to him when The Emperor was about to kill Luke with his force lightning and sacrifices himself to save Luke. The lightsaber has an important role in episode 7, but I know some people still haven't seen it and it contains spoilers so I will not talk about

There are many differences in books but there is so many things that they have in common with the hero’s journey too. To begin the Star Wars movie and the Hunger Games both share the hero’s journey but in either the same ways or different ways. Such as in the Hunger Games the Ordinary world was a very poor town and the ordinary world in star wars is a desert planet in space. In addition I think the call to adventure for Katniss was when she entered the arena because from there on the her life was going to be on a crazy journey to survive. In Star Wars I think the call to adventure was when Luke received the message of princess leia because then when that happened he wanted to save her.…
