They are there to guide us to the best of their knowledge.” In this story The Alchemist, The Alchemist succors Santiago along the way on his journey to finding his treasure buried in the pyramids of Egypt. He is very beneficial to Santiago and has made a big impact on the way he sees the world. The Alchemist plays a critical role in the book.
