Now he says he fishes for Richard Parker. He says this because he believes that eating meat is evil, so he refers to all of his negative actions as Richard Parker. He says Richard Parker killed the hyena in his first story, and he killed the cook in the second story. Because he views the act of killing as evil, he refers to this as something that Richard Parker made him do, or something that his evil side made him do.
In conclusion, in both stories, Yann Martel portrays that the only reason Pi survived his ordeal was because of Richard Parker.
