Many historical events from past and today’s society has greatly influenced my perspective on law enforcement and race. I believe, that in today’s society this topic has increased in popularity. One popular historical event that has occurred in 1955 was during the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was caused by a female African American named Rosa Parks. When she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat that was in front of the bus, in that historical time only Americans were allowed to sit in the front of the bus. Another historical event that is occurring in today’s society, would be Black Lives Matter.…

Eyewitness memory in the court of law can be a very controversial topic. Although viewed as an essential in court we see that in research memory can be something that in a situation of high stakes can fail us. This is viewed in numerous cases with false convictions. So a question arises should we have eyewitnesses be a part of cases in court or should we get rid of eyewitnesses because of what we know about memory. I personally believe that we should let eyewitness testimonies count because that is a very strong factor in a case.…

Policing involves dangerous work and the potential of physical injury sustained. The culture supports an image of masculinity and the dominant image of a police officer to be sovereign, brave and strong. Officers are expected to exert extensive effort to demonstrate certain attributes to prove they’re capable enough to handle tough situations that can place them in cynical situations. Officers should be trained to handle stressful events during their street level decision making by maintaining self-control and remain positive for what may happen. If they display emotion or any type of behavior other than anger, the public may view them as “weak” or incapable of getting the job done.…
